The flag of Bhutan features a dragon on a background of two diagonal bands of yellow and orange. The design of the flag originates from 1947 and was developed until the present day flag was adopted in 1969.

The yellow represents the king of bhutan (also known as the druk gyalpo), the orange represents the Buddhist spiritual tradition, and the dragon spreads across the two bands equally represents the power and purity of the citizens.
