Dongdaemun District (Korean: 동대문구; RR: Dongdaemun-gu) is one of the 25 districts of Seoul, bordering the districts of Seongbuk to the northwest, Jongno to the west, Seongdong to the south, Gwangjin to the southeast, and Jungnang to the east.

Description[]

The flag consists of a white background with the district logo in the center atop a text which reads "동대문구" (RR: Dongdaemun-gu) in black. The logo is a depiction of Dongdaemun Gate in purple with extended walls on either side, forming an oval.

Symbolism[]

The logo reflects Dongdaemun District's commitment to traditional values and culture, as well as its goals of participation, harmony, and development in alignment with these principles. Dongdaemun Gate, recognized as Treasure No. 1, conveys important messages about the preservation of life. The gate tower, along with the extended walls on either side, symbolizes the preservation of cultural values and the focus on cultural administration.
