Drôme is a department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in South-Eastern France.
The flag is formed by the plain square part of the 2006 logo of the department, a blue field with the white scripture arranged like on the latter.
The traditional flag takes the Dauphiné symbol, a blue and red daulphin on a yellow background, and adds two blue wavy stripes with one white wavy stripe intertwined between both. The Dauphiné region is a former province of France as well as a historical and cultural region, overlapping Drôme and Isère departments. Both of the stripes may stand for the Rhône, a major river crossing the department on the west side, and for the Drôme river, the namesake of the department.
The department had a former flag, which was taken from the former logo of the departmental council, being made of a vertical blue stripe on the hoist, with a yellow triangle following on the right, a very slim white space between both and a white field after.
