Eindhoven is a city and municipality of the province of North Brabant, Netherlands.
Description[]
Two vertical stripes in red and white in the hoist side, and five horizontal strips alternatively in red and white
Symbolism[]
The general pattern was inspired by the merger of 6 municipalities to "Groot-Eindhoven". The two stripes towards the hoist point at Eindhoven itself; the 5 horizontal stripes at Woensel, Tongelre, Stratum, Gestel, and Strijp.
Municipal Standard[]
A municipal standard was adopted at the same time as the flag, and is basically the same as the municipal flag. The difference is in the canton at the top left, that shows a red standing lion and three post horns. These images are both taken from the municipal coat of arms. This makes Eindhoven the only municipality in the Netherlands with two official flags: a municipal flag and a municipal standard.
