The flag of the state of Colima is, like most current Mexican state flags, the coat of arms centered on a white field.
The main symbol in the coat of arms is the prehispanic hieroglyph for an arm. Below the shield is a golden ribbon with the words "El TEMPLE DEL BRAZO ES VIGOR EN LA TIERRA", which roughly translates to "The arm's steadiness is strength on the land". Above the ribbon are two jaguars, a palm tree and the Volcán de Colima.

CL Flag Proposal "apollohawkridge"
The three stripes are based on the colours of the Mexican Flag, representing the independence (red), unity (white) and the green is changed to golden yellow, the same of the coat of arms and represents the motto itself of the state ("El temple del brazo es vigor en la tierra"). In the left side, with blue, there is a simplistic representation of the local volcanoes of Colima, turned sideways because of design decision. AkaiRyu. 2017.
