The flag of Mexico City (Ciudad de Mexico, also known as the Federal District until January 2016), the national capital of Mexico, consists of its coat of arms on a white field. The design was officially established in 1995.
The coat of arms is a stylized version of the arms granted to Mexico City by Charles V on July 4, 1523.

The Flag of Mexico City is made up by the lake at the centre of the Valley of Mexico, the island of the Aztec legend that gave place to the foundation of Tenochtilan, and by 16 municipalities. By Ricardo Vazoli, 2016.
