The flag of Fort Wayne, Indiana features two white diagonal bands coming from the top left and bottom left corners that converge into one straight horizontal line through the center. In the center of where the diagonal lines converge is a white disk with the silhouette of a red blockhouse inside. The lines form three different sections of the flag, each with a navy blue background and a red symbol. On the left side there is a red silhouette of a Miami native american, on the top side there is a fleur-de-lis, and on the bottom side there is a British lion.
Symbolism[]
The blockhouse represents the pioneer days of the city. The head of a Miami native american represents the Miami tribe, who are native to the city's area. The fleur-de-lis represents the former French control and influence in the area while the British lion represents the former British control and influence in the area. The three stripes symbolize the St. Joseph River and St. Marys River that combine to form the Maumee River, which flows through the city.
