Symbolism[]
The red triangle symbolizes a prehistoric hut that dates back 6,000 years. It represents Gangdong, with a vibrant and enterprising red sun rising over it. The six triangles signify 6,000 years of history. The blue waves symbolizes the Han River, which serves as the lifeline of Seoul and the aorta of South Korea, where the Bukhan and Namhan Rivers converge. The blue waves also represents the clear waters of the Han River, the first sight that greets visitors in Seoul. The green hill represents the foundation of life, indicating where residential areas were established in prehistoric times. The unique residential form with thatched roofs reflects the peaceful and rural nature of green Gangdong.
