Ethnic Flags[]
Li and Miao are the two most important ethnic minorities in the island of Hainan. The Li, also known as Hlai or Lizu, are a Kra–Dai-speaking ethnic group. The Miao are a group of linguistically related peoples living in Southern China.
The chart Flags of Aspirant Peoples (1994) shows the following: 136. "Hainan (Li and Miao, 1943-1949) - South China - War flag)." Horizontal red green, with two crossed swords. The Kachin peoples use similar flags, like the flag of the Kachin Independence Army or the flag of Jingpo ethnic group (the largest subgroup of the Kachin peoples). This is most likely a mistake in the chart Flags of Aspirant Peoples in which a Kachin flag was misattributed.
