The flag of Irving, Texas, is a silhouette of a horse, with the words "Irving" and "Texas" on the bottom on a white background.

Former flag (1975-2009)[]

The former flag is divided between white and red over a horizontal curved line. In the canton, is a circle fimbriated in blue, with two wavy lines and one circle inside. The flag was adopted on 1 October 1975.

Symbolism[]

The large dot of the logo symbolizes the Civic Center Complex; the wavy lines below represent Irving Boulevard (State Highway 356) that runs in front of city hall. The colors and their arrangement are said to echo the design of the Texas state flag. Irving is one of the few Texas cities without the “Lone Star” motif on its flag, although a small white star does appear on the logo’s blue dot on city stationery.

Relinquishization[]

The flag was relinquished after one ordinance contained that "the logo shall be approved for "all City of Irving purposes", which, while not being mentioned, meant their flag as well.

2004 NAVA survey[]

The previous flag ranked 17th on the 2004 NAVA city flag survey, with a score of 7.65 out of 10.
