Jongno District (Korean: 종로구; RR: Jongno-gu) is one of the 25 districts of Seoul, bordering Dongdaemun and Seongbuk to the east, Seodaemun and Eunpyeong to the west, Jung to the south, and Goyang to the north.

Design[]

The flag of Jongno District is a white background with the district's logo in the center atop a text which reads "종로구" (RR: Jongno-gu) in black.

Symbolism[]

The logo symbolizes the Bosingak Bell, which is the origin of the name "Jongno" and serves as the district's representative symbol. The traditional lines of the bell are reimagined in a modern style, embodying the harmony between the past and the present. The color yellow, which is positioned at the center of the country's traditional five colors, is used in the design.

Yellow is seen as the center of the universe and was historically regarded as the most noble color, often used for the emperor’s garments. As Jongno is located in the heart of Seoul, this color was chosen to represent it. The logo features a bright, smiling expression, reflecting Jongno-gu's commitment to providing friendly and compassionate service to its citizens.
