The national flag of the Republic of Kenya is yet another African nation whose flag is heavily based off of a founding political party, in this case it's the Kenya African National Union (KANU) that led the fight for freedom and independence of Kenya, a trait also shared by Angola and Zimbabwe.
Description[]
The Kenyan flag is that a tricolor banner that displays the colors black, red, and green with two white edges imposed with a red, white and black Maasai shield and two crossed spears.
Symbolism[]
The black stripe represents the Kenyan countryman, the red portion is symbolic for the blood that was shed during the war of independence, and the green bottom stands for the nation's wealth as well as the Kenyan landscape. The white outlines are synonymous with peace and/or honesty. The traditional Maasai shield and two spears are displayed to show the Kenyans commitment to defend all of the things that the flag represents.
