The flag of La Guajira Department is official since September 29, 1966.
Description[]
It consists of two horizontal stripes, green on top and white at the bottom.
Symbolism[]
Green: symbolizes the hope of farmers, "in planting and raising their crops".
White: symbolizes the purity of the indigenous population, "known to be peaceful and noble"; and at the same time it represents some of the most important natural resources of the department: sea salt and pearls.
