Landgraaf is a municipality in the province of Limburg, Netherlands.

Description[]

The flag of Landgraaf is rectangular, consisting of three vertical stripes, starting from the hoist in the colours blue, yellow and red. The middle yellow stripe, twice the width of the other stripes, has a vertical black bar in the centre, above which are three green leaves from a laurel branch. The dimensions of the flag are in the ratio 7:10.

Symbolism[]

The colours of the flag are derived from the municipal coat of arms: blue for Schaesberg, yellow for Ubach over Worms and red for Nieuwenhagen, while the three leaves refer to the three former municipalities of Nieuwenhagen, Schaesberg and Ubach over Worms that make up the current municipality (the stem in the flag). The three leaves and a trunk were therefore the old logo of the municipality of Landgraaf, which was used until 2002.
