The flag of Long Beach, California, is divided between yellow and blue, separated by a white curvy line. In the yellow part, is the city's seal, and in the blue part, are the words "CITY OF LONG BEACH". in white and in uppercase.

Symbolism[]

The gold color is for the sand of the city’s eight-mile beach, the white represents the city’s clear, clean air, and the blue is for the ocean. The seal uses the metaphor of a goddess blessing and protecting the arts, recreation, commerce, and industry of the city.

Previous flag (1967-2020)

The previous flag is the same as the current, just only featuring the picture part of the seal, the text being all uppercase, and featuring the word "THE INTERNATIONAL CITY" on the bottom of the word "CITY OF LONG BEACH". The flag was adopted in 5 July 1967.

2004 NAVA survey[]

The previous flag ranked 90th on the 2004 NAVA city flag survey, with a score of 3.70 out of 10, behind Dover and ahead of El Paso.
