Louisville, Kentucky, as of right now, uses its municipal flag to represent itself.
Current flag (2003-present)[]
The municipal flag of Louisville consists of a blue background with a white circle in it. Inside the circle is a golden fleur-de-lis with two stars and the words "17" and "78" surrounded by the circular Louisville • Jefferson County METRO words.
The fleur-de-lis, and the blue background represents France, as it once colonized Louisville. The year "1778" signifies the founding of the city.
Former flag (1934-2003)[]
Their former flag is a blue field with 13 stars on a circular background, with 3 yellow fleur-de-lis on the right.
The 13 stars represent the original 13 colonies and the United States, and the 3 fleur-de-lis represents France, and their arrangement comes from the coat of arms of the House of Bourbon.
The flag was relinquished upon the entire merger with Jefferson County in 2003.
