Meerssen is a municipality in the province of Limburg, Netherlands.
Description[]
The flag of Meerssen consists of the hoist of two bars, blue and yellow, with a yellow lily on the blue field and a double-headed (black) eagle on the yellow field, the fly of two bars, yellow and blue.
Symbolism[]
The flag is a historical reference to Gerberga of Saxony, to whom Meerssen owes its origins. In addition, the four sections refer to the four former municipalities of Bunde, Geulle, Meerssen and Ulestraten. The flag was designed by the High Council of Nobility.
