The current flag was approved on September 16, 2011 and entered into the State Heraldic Register of the Russian Federation with registration number 7077.

The flag of the city district of Nalchik of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic is a rectangular white panel with a ratio of width to length of 2: 3, in the center of which is a green horseshoe surrounded from below and on the sides by a blue spruce wreath with two spikes upwards, inside which is a blue sun emerging from below with expanding rays, on top of the disk of which is a white mountain with two peaks.
