The flag of Niger consists of an orange, white, and green tricolor, with an orange circle in the center. The orange either represents the Sahara Desert or the Sahel. The white represents purity (though sometimes it is said that it is the river of Niger), it also represents the French-descended small white minority, and the green represents hope and the fertile regions of southern Niger. The circle either represents the sun or independence.
