Northern Ireland currently has no official flag besides the UK's flag. It is most often represented by the Ulster Banner, the flag used by the government of Northern Ireland from 1953 until its dissolution in 1973.

The Ulster Banner is a heraldic banner of the former government's coat of arms, which was granted in 1924. It consists of a red cross on white (similar to the flag of England), charged with a red hand on a crowned six-pointed star. The red cross and hand are from the flag of the larger traditional Irish province of Ulster; the star represents the six counties of Northern Ireland.

Several other flags are used in the region, many of which are associated with political views such as loyalty to the UK, or support for Irish reunification or full independence.
