Orihuela (Valencian: Oriola) is a city and municipality located at the foot of the Sierra de Orihuela mountains in the province of Alicante, Valencian Community, Spain.

Oriole Banner[]

The Glorious Ensign of the Oriole, also called the senyera, pennant or standard, and popularly known as El Pájaro ('The Bird'), is the historical flag of immemorial use that represents the city and municipality of Orihuela.

Description[]

It is a flagpole topped by a gilded silver oriole (finial), from which hangs a banner made of crimson damask with a tongue-shaped narrowing, decorated with embroidery of the symbols of the city, the Crown of Aragon, the coat of arms of Philip V of Spain and Saints Justa and Rufina, co-patron saints of the municipality.
