Overijssel (Dutch Low Saxon: Oaveriesse; German: Oberyssel) is a province of the Netherlands located in the eastern part of the country.
Description[]
A yellow flag with two red bands in top and bottom, and a blue wavy band in the middle.
Symbolism[]
The yellow and red stripes serve to depict the historical relationship of the province with Holland. Red and yellow are the colors of the coat of arms of Holland and as such can also be seen in the flag of South Holland and (accompanied by blue) in that of North Holland.
The wavy blue strip in the Overijssel flag symbolizes the river IJssel.
