Plano is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, where it is the largest city in Collin County.
Current Flag[]
The flag was approved in April 2013, by the City Council.
Design[]
A white background with the city's logo, and the words "Plano" in blue in the top, and "City of Excellence" italicized in red on the bottom.
Former flag (1980-2013)[]
Design[]
The former flag of Plano was a white background with which was once the city's logo, and the city's name in blue lowercase, italicized text. It was adopted on August 25, 1980, and had proportions of 7:10.
Symbolism[]
The star, as well as the red, white, and blue colors, perhaps recalls the Lone Star State of Texas. The large P seems to say "Plano" with a large capital "P", reflecting the pride of its citizens.
2004 NAVA survey[]
The flag scored 4.88 on the 2004 NAVA city flag survey, tied with Newark, and ahead of Carson City.
