Saint Martin is the northern half of the island of the same name (the southern half being the Dutch Sint Maarten), and is administered by France as an overseas collectivity. It has no official flag other than the French tricolour.
The territorial council has used flags containing the territory's logo and emblem, in both cases on a white field. The logo consists of a blue and a green ribbon, which stylise the sea and Fort Louis as well as the initials "SM". The emblem, adopted in 2010, depicts a landscape with a flying pelican holding a hibiscus and a flamboyant flower. On its wing, the island's border monument is depicted, as are two hands holding a bag of salt. At the bottom of the emblem is a stone "slave wall".
