Saint Pierre and Miquelon is an overseas collectivity of France, located off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada.
The islands' unofficial but widely-used flag is based on its coat of arms. It depicts a yellow sailing ship (likely representing the Grande Hermine) on a blue background. On the hoist side are three sections displaying the symbols of the Basque Country, Brittany and Normandy, from where most of the original settlers came.
