Seocho District (Description[]
The flag of Seocho District is a white background with the district's logo in the center atop a text which reads "서초 SEOCHO" in black.
Symbolism[]
The shape of a blade of grass, symbolizing Seocho, has been visualized as the Korean letter '서' (seo), leading to the creation of a new emblem for Seocho-gu. This emblem represents a powerful start filled with hope for the new millennium. The imagery portrays people living harmoniously in a warm and friendly atmosphere between the Han River and the pleasant green spaces of Cheonggyesan and Umyeonsan Mountains, using the Hangul '서'.
The colors used in this design convey different meanings: blue represents a developed city and a community leading a rich, leisurely life; red symbolizes public service, with the cultural arts center serving the citizens; and green signifies a comfortable and relaxing green space, with surrounding blue forests integrating people with the city.
The first building, painted blue, represents a prosperous city, highlighted by the Han River and the Seoul Arts Center, signifying a desirable place to live. The second building, in red, symbolizes a gathering place for people filled with warmth and affection. The third building, in green, represents the lovely green spaces like Cheonggyesan and Umyeonsan. Finally, the blue ground embodies Seocho-gu as a community that embraces a leisurely lifestyle.
