Sermersooq is a municipality in Greenland that was established on January 1, 2009, through the merger of five smaller municipalities. Its administrative center is Nuuk, formerly known as Godthåb, which also serves as Greenland’s capital.

The flag of Sermersooq features a white shield outlined in blue. Inside the shield, there is a stylized depiction of an inuksuk, a traditional Inuit stone landmark, composed of blue stones stacked on top of each other. Behind the inuksuk, a yellow circle represents the sun, symbolizing the Arctic environment and the long summer daylight. Below the inuksuk, wavy blue and white lines likely represent water, highlighting the region’s connection to the sea and ice. The emblem reflects both the natural landscape and the cultural heritage of Sermersooq.
