  • Dear Hans,

I have copied a lot of your file structure to create descriptive pages for my flags. I also copied (and adapted) the code pages that you use. I'm now trying to create a NewCommentPreload page following your example, but when I save the page the four tildes are directly replaced by my signature - which is not what I intended to achieve. Is there a way to save the four tildes without that happening?

    Greetings,

    Qaz.

    • My page uses a <noinclude/> tag in the middle of the four tildes. The tag "breaks" the sequence of tildes to prevent it expanding into a signature on saving the preload page, but crucially the tag is not included when the text is actually preloaded onto another page after someone clicks the "Comment" button, so the tildes correctly insert their signature when they then click "save".

I'm not very familiar with the visual editor (which I'm assuming you are using) and can't find a way of inserting the noinclude tag in it, so you may have to switch to the wikicode editor to add it.

Unrelatedly, while you're of course free to use my userspace structure and templates, it is odd to see my idiosyncratic systems being used by someone else. :)

    • Thank you for your reply.

I do use the source editor most of the time, so inserting the tag should pose no problem.

About using your systems: they seem to work pretty well, and it seems a shame to invent the wheel when someone else has already done that, so I hope you can see my copying your stuff as a compliment.

      Greetings,

      Qaz.

P.S.: I am learning a lot about the way this wiki works by reusing your code, so I'm really glad that it is there.
