The flag of the city of Ambato, the Canton Ambato and the Province of Tungurahua was adopted in 1954 by the Province of Tungurahua, promulgated in 2002 and reformed on January 26, 2004 by the Municipal Council of the Canton Ambato. a 3: 2 ratio rectangle that is divided into 3 equal horizontal stripes.
The first and third stripes are red and symbolize the rebellion of the locals. The central strip is green and represents the field, the vegetation and happiness.
