The national flag of the Republic of Zimbabwe is strongly based on the country's ruling party, the Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front, and carries political, regional, and cultural meanings. The flag consists of seven even different colored horizontal stripes with a white triangle containing a red 5-pointed star with a Zimbabwe Bird. The white triangle stands for peace and the golden bird, more popularly known as the "Great Zimbabwe Bird", is Zimbabwe's official national symbol, most likely inspired by the bateleur eagle or the African fish eagle. The red star could indeed be mistaken as socialism, but it instead officially represents the country's aspirations The five different colors on the stripes are Green, gold, red, black and white. Green stripes represents the agriculture and rural areas of country while the yellow stripes symbolizes the wealth of minerals in the country, this is especially true for gold. The red stripes are referring to the people who lost their lives in the struggle for independence and finally, the lone black stripe in the middle represents the black majority in the country.
